Predator - Multiplayer Demo FAQ Aliens vs Predator (SEGA 2010 version) Demo FAQ by Lightwolf762 My original thread is viewed here: I noticed that several people had questions about handling certain characters and their abilities so I figured I'd start a thread for anyone that has any questions or wishes to find certain information on the demo (and in the future, the main game). So, lets begin. Focus: Focus is a tricky button, as depending on how you use it you can perform different actions/target different characters. Marines are the only race without any use of a focus button. With the predator, the focus button does a couple of things. First, upon holding down the focus button you see a large green icon with either an arrow or red X above it. Sierra and Fox Interactive have released a multiplayer demo of their upcoming sci-fi action game, Aliens Versus Predator 2. The 65MB demo. [br]A multiplayer demo for Aliens vs. Predator 3 has been released on Steam. This demo includes all three classes, and deathmatch map Refinery. You can head over here and install in through Steam. All the servers are empty right now, so download it and get in there![br]You can see the original Steam. This is the focus jumping technique, which allows the predator to jump to several different locations. Additionally the focus button allows you to lock onto enemies, and unleash all your attacks on them. While holding down the focus button you will notice red triangles or green cross-hairs around the map, these are the predator's weapons that you can pick up and use as you find them. With the either the alien or the predator, holding down the focus button and pressing Light Attack, initiates a charge (pounce if alien) that closes the gap between you and your enemy (has the ability to knock characters down temporarily). If you press jump while using the focus button it can initiate a charge as well (or if alien allows you to pounce onto other walls). Blocking: During combat if you can manage to face your opponent and press your left and right buttons together (buttons, not triggers) your character will raise his arms (or rifle if human) and block. While the characters arms can stay up, it will only block for a short period of time before you continue taking damage. After a successful block, the predator and alien can immediately perform a fast counterattack (faster than a normal Light Attack) that can stun your opponent and give you a quick kill. BLOCKING DOES NOT WORK IF STUNNED OR IF ENEMY PERFORMS A TROPHY KILL FROM BEHIND. However if knocked down by a pounce and you're enemy tries to perform a frontal grab, pressing and holding block will allow your character to break free and quickly attack. Predator targeting: The targeting system is slightly different here than it was in previous AvP games. Yes you do still have to be in the right vision mode to be able to target (or even focus on a target), but the weapons themselves target differently. As of now the Plasmacaster is the only weapon that is able to target similar to AvP 1 and 2, the difference lies that you have to HOLD the right trigger down for a period of time, then the triangle target will show up and you can fire away. The disk however, no longer uses the traditional targeting, instead when you throw the disk, the three red dots pop up and you must then put the dots on your enemy as the disk follows the dots (similar to a fly-by-wire rocket launcher in other games). The disk flies around for a short time and then returns to the user. The multiplayer demo for the remake of AvP came out. And i've been playing it like crazy. For those that don't know you get to play as either: 1. Aliens (also known as Xenomorphs because they reproduse by infecting other species with eggs that take some of their genetic traits. Then the egg hatches and a hybred of the two spieces bursts from the infected persons chest. Believe it or not this thing is part human) 2. The Predator (They go from planet to planet hunting the most deadly prey they can find, Xenomorphs being at the top of their list. But i would argue that humans are second on that list.) 3.Humans (Space marines) Each race has different advantages and disadvantages that play against eachother pretty well. Alien Advantages: The Aliens can run on any surface. They can run along the ceiling and drop down behind you or they make a quick escape through vent or holes in the ceiling which other races can't follow. They are also the fastest race their regular movement speed is is faster than a human's sprint speed this helps them to both: come out of nowhere and disapear when they're in danger. Aliens are unaffected by darkness, so your opening strategy should be to blow out every lightbulb you find because aliens are black and blend into the shadows. Aliens can also sense there enemies within a radius even if there behind walls or on a different floor. Aliens have grab attacks that are insta kills and look really cool to you and scary to your opponents. Nothing freakier than running along and looking down to see that you've been impaled by a razor sharp xenomorph's tale. Alien disadvantages: They have no ranged ability, and they have the least health of any race. Meaning, if they get noticed before they're within range they're forced to run. This is why they are so stealthy and blend with the shadows. Unfortunately they are also really shiney so if they are in the light you can't miss them. Thats pretty much the only disadvantage but its a big one. And the grab attack, though it looks cool, leaves you standing still and completely defenseless till you're finished. Predator Advantages: Being a highley advanced race The Predators are have lots of gadgets. Their most usefull being stealth, when you first turn it on your completely invisible it eventually malfunctions and starts to look like an overshield from halo 3. They're helmets have to special view modes: one the highlights humans and one that highlights aliens. They are mostly a stealth and melee race and have a grab sneak attack like the aliens. But hidden in the level you can find the laser guided shoulder weapon that one hits enemies making you a god against anything infront of you. Predator Disadvantages: They're the middle ground which means they can do everything the other races can but not as well. They are faster than humans but slower than aliens. They have a ranged attack but only if they find it and it has very limited ammo. They have stealth but it's not permanent. They can use the highlighted sight to find hiding enemies but if you have humans highlighted you can barely see aliens and vise-versa. Humans Advantages: RANGE. Yup thats the only thing that can save you from being shreded by some crazy monster. You start off with an assualt rifle, that holds 100 rounds per clip so you can go trigger happy all you want. If you see can see it shoot it. You'll either scare it away or kill it before it reaches you. On the map there are also shotguns (which have knock back if your enemy gets too close), grenades for your assault rifle, and flame throwers for looking awsome. You have a motion detector that senses movement withing a radius but it's a half circle so you can only tell how far away somthing is when your facing it. And it has that effect that made aliens such a scary movie: not only do you see the dot moving closer but you also hear a soft pinging noise that gets louder and faster the closer something is to you. Humans can also take to most damage. Human Disadvantages: They are extremely slow, thus making it very easy for monsters to catch you. Your only night vision is the tiny flashlight beam on your weapon. Your motion tracker is your best friend but it can't tell the difference between enemies that are on another floor or hanging from the ceiling about to rip your face off so you have to constantly check the walls and ceilings. With the humans it's the enemie's stealth vs your awareness. If you see them first you can shred them if they get in close and unnoticed there is absolutely no escape. All that said give me a good old fashoned space marine against that alien scum anyday of the week. I haven't lost a match yet playing as a human and all there is is FFA Deathmatch so i'm playing against other human characters too. But the aliens are insanely fun to play. I just suck at stealth:P.
